The advantages of slip resistant flooring

When we speak of anti skid flooring we think of the system which is produced by pouring a suitable aggregate (quartz or corundum) over a primed foundation in one or more instances. At the end, as a final process, we pour resin with appropriate chemical characteristics. The combination of the primer enriched with over 50% of aggregate has a characteristic of steam-pass, where capillary transpirations from the concrete go through the slip resistant flooring while not leaving any damages.

In the cases when non steam-pass flooring is installed (varnish, PVC flooring) the flooring is separated from the foundation due to capillary transpirations. Sometimes it happens only locally while in some cases it can be permanent. With anti skid flooring, this situation has not happened.
Another advantage of this kind of flooring is that it can be successfully applied to concrete surfaces whose humidity percentage is bigger than 4% or in some cases 10%. This characteristic differs it from non steam-pass flooring. Namely, in combination with primers for higher humidity (for cases when the foundation contains more humidity than it is acceptable), slip resistant flooring system ensures the continuation of the drying of the surface, or concrete.

One car wash has installed anti skid flooring in five boxes, and in the other five boxes they have retained the old one (cladding). After two winters, when the temperatures went below 20°C and after two summers, when the temperatures went up to 40°C, some photos were taken. Around 1.000 vehicles go through this car wash on a daily bases and by looking at these photos you can conclude on the quality and endurance of the installed slip resistant flooring…
The flooring can be made of epoxy, polyurethane, acrylic, polyester or of an adequate combination depending on numerous situations. It depends on the fact whether a new flooring is being installed or the old one is being repaired. It is also important whether the foundation is monolithic or a segment one. The technical characteristics of the flooring are also vital for the installation. The chemical endurance directly depends on the final layer, while the mechanical endurance depends on the firmness of the foundation (the stronger the foundation is, the stronger will the floor be).
